A Wacker trench rammer (often colloquially called a “pogo stick” or “jumping jack”) is a heavy-duty, handheld compaction tool used primarily in construction and utility work. While “Wacker Neuson” is a specific brand, the name has become synonymous with the machine itself due to their industry-standard designs.
Unlike flat-plate compactors that use vibration to settle granular soil, a rammer uses high-impact force to compress cohesive soils like clay or silt.
