What do I need to know?
The Altrad Belle WPX 3/30 is a self-priming centrifugal pump, but it still requires a small amount of manual prep before you start it for the first time or after it has been drained.
While it is designed to “self-prime” (meaning it can pull air out of the suction hose on its own), it must never be run dry. Running the pump without water in the casing will quickly overheat and destroy the mechanical seals.
How to Prime the WPX 3/30
To get the pump started correctly, follow these steps:
Fill the Pump Casing: Locate the priming plug (usually a large plastic or metal screw cap) on the top of the pump housing. Unscrew it and pour clean water into the casing until it is completely full and starts to overflow.
Replace the Plug: Hand-tighten the priming plug back into place.
Check Hose Connections: Ensure the suction hose (the one going into the water) has a perfectly air-tight seal at the pump inlet. If air leaks in here, the pump will never be able to create the vacuum needed to pull water up.
Start the Engine: Once the casing is full and hoses are secure, start the petrol engine. It may take a minute or two for the pump to “catch” and begin moving water, especially if you are using the maximum 6-meter suction lift.

Performance: It delivers a high flow rate of 1,000 liters per minute with a maximum total head of 30 meters.
Engine: Usually powered by a reliable Loncin/Belle G200F 5.5hp petrol engine.
Design: It features a stackable frame (compatible with Belle GPX generators) and a protective “belly plate” for stability on soft or uneven ground.
Durability: The volute and impeller are made of cast iron for long-life performance in abrasive conditions.
